Village Board Trustee Steve Newbold and Mayor Joe Behnken met with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to plan to furnish COV-19 vaccines to the community. This is the Village’s second program, in August the Village sponsored vaccinations in conjunction with New Athens Township and Saint Clair County Public Health Department.
The IDPH in partnership with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) has built a robust vaccine administration network to promote the uptake of vaccine in Illinois and increase access to vaccine in communities that are medically underserved.
Our program will consist of a series of three events where the various types of vaccines will be available to the public at no cost. Dates are being firmed up in October, November, and December. The following vaccines will be available:
1. Pfizer (shots one, two and booster shot)
2. Moderna (shots one, two and booster shot)
3. Johnson and Johnson (shots one and booster shot)
Steve is currently making arrangements to use the New Athens Community Hall as we have done in the past. We will advise the public of firm dates when they have been established.
